Build A Driftwood City
During the 1960s and 1970s, Lawrence Halprin and his wife and collaborator, Anna Halprin, organized a series of "Experiments in Environment Workshops" aimed at fostering collective creativity. The workshops brought together dancers and architects for intense, three to four week long programs, which took place, in part, at The Sea Ranch. Here is the "score" for one of the events, conceived in collaboration with Charles Moore:
1. Contact the environment of this beach. It is made up of sound, water, cliffs and driftwood.
2. Using this environment and these materials build an environment according to this place and your own interests and needs.
